Week 11 - Keep Calm and Carry On
So this week is the start of week 11. The roofers have turned up to finish their job and by the end of the week, the hope is that we have the building roofed and tiled. This means we can then get going with the windows and making things water tight. The kitchen still has some supporting walls to take out - the main one being where the window is - the steels are all in place to support the weight above now, though, so that should be able to progress relatively quickly once they get on with it.
Alex and Simon turned up this morning, but only to collect some kit and head on to another job in Stamford Bridge. Their reason was that they would only get in the way of the roofers today, because the area where they are working is so tight. Hopefully they will be with us for the rest of the week from tomorrow, or Anne will go mental.
We reckon that we're about 3 weeks behind schedule at the moment, which pushes the project on to the beginning of December. That just takes us to the point of decoration. Christmas isn't quite cancelled yet, but it's getting close to 'squeaky bum time', as Sir Alex Ferguson might say.
Generally, tensions are running quite high in the Dransfield household at the moment and I have to remind myself to fall back on the words of Winston Churchill - "Keep calm and carry on".
