One room all done!

Week 3 - brickwork

Sent from my iPadBrickwork is getting up to roof level now. Minster engineering are coming today to measure up. This is what the new Vigo the kitchen looks like at the moment.

Week 4 is a spare week, so not sure what is supposed to be happening this week, but the next job after the brickwork is steels and the roof work, which will probably be a 3 week phase.

Wk 3 - progress

Soil pipe from the upstairs toilet has been re-routed and attached now. It comes down through the roof space and into the bathroom, where it will be hidden by the new boiler cupboard. Thankfully, we don't have to pee in a bucket during the night anymore.

The windows in the kitchen have been taken out and bricked up.

The existing utility outside bricks have been knocked in and the lower level of the new wall has been built.

The kitchen extension has breeze blocks on on side built up to about head height, with the second layer of bricks starting to be built around the base engineering bricks.

The sparks have also been here working on setting new points into the wall and connecting some bits in the new fuse box.

Aim by the end of this week is to have the brickwork built and ready for the steels to come next week. Minster engineering are coming to measure up on Friday.

Wk 3 - Slow week update

Sent from my iPadNot much happened this week, as Alex has been on holiday. Towards the end of last week when we went to Wales, Andy got some pipes in place for the boiler, but we've not seen anything of him this week.

We've been quite busy ourselves though. Ben's room was plastered by one of Jane's unemployed neighbours and this weekend we've managed to get it painted with the first coat and have done the undercoat on the woodwork. Jane and Ed took Ben on Sat morning and have had him all weekend, including tonight. We wouldn't have managed to get this much done without them doing that for us, so that was good of them. Having said that, Anne did spend a lot of time looking after Eleanor when they were sorting their place out. Oh, and they lived with us for 5 weeks, so I suppose we're owed it.

Alex starts again tomorrow, but has called to say he will be starting a little later, because they're helping someone on a concreting job. Hope the pace starts picking up again this week.

Electricians were also in for a bit last week, getting the new fuse box in place and doing some other bits to prep whilst we wait for the delayed electrical cable repositioning. Anne found out that it was 6-7 weeks from receiving our cheque, not from when we made the application!
